- not all elsen are weak
- not all elsen are helpless
- not all elsen are fearful
- not all elsen are submissive
- elsen are capable of defending themselves
i think because the player sees the mild-mannered elsens of zone 1 first
and then the fearful elsens of zone 2
we forget that elsens don’t act like that naturally and that their behavior can be explained by the repressive regimes they live in, i.e. dedan’s constant threats to his workers and japhet’s highly structured “baby-proof” society in zone 2.
those elsens were near brain-washed.
whereas in zone 3, we see elsens slacking off and enjoying the plastic, and defending themselves! (or the sugar, at least.) Enoch’s society is generally a lot less repressive or controlling than the ones in zones 1 and 2. (granted, there’s still sugar, which might explain some of the elsens’ more violent behavior, but the idea behind enoch’s society is that the average elsen would be functioning, content, productive, and hopefully not too screwed up from eating people-powder all the time.)
then you have the elsens in the room, who are downright sassy.
